Optimize Point Cloud Data for Visualization 🔊

This video explains the procedure to optimize point cloud data for visualization.

0:27 Create point cloud data optimized for visualization
1:17 Compare the point cloud drawing between the optimized and the original

💡 TIPS

  • Once the noise reduction is complete, it is recommended to create point cloud data optimized for the visualization, hide the original point cloud data, and show the optimized point cloud data only to increase the drawing speed.
  • If the optimized point cloud data looks sparse, change the value for "Resolution" from 5 mm (the default value) to 1 mm or so to increase the sampling interval.

💡 Unloading the Point Cloud Data

InfiPoints has the capability to unload point cloud data to increase the loading/drawing speed of point cloud data. Technically, the unloaded point cloud data still exists in the project, but will no longer be loaded to the memory.

You can load unloaded point cloud data by either of the following.

  • Select [Pre-process] tab > [Point Cloud with Scan Index] > [Load] from the ribbon menu.
  • Select point cloud group(s) or point cloud file(s) in [Tree (Overview)] panel, and select [Load Point Cloud with Scan Index] from the context menu.
