Display

The point cloud data is not shown in "3D View" window.

It may be because the point cloud data is set to hidden.

Confirm the following.

  • The point cloud display is enabled with [Home] tab > [Show/Hide Point Cloud].
  • The desired point cloud files are checked in [Tree (Overview)] panel.(*1)
  • The desired point cloud files are loaded to InfiPoints.(*2)

If the point cloud data is still not displayed, also confirm the following.

  • Layers that contain the desired points are set to shown in [Layer] panel.
  • The display range is not restricted with "Hide points outside Clipping Box"/"Hide points outside section" option in [Clipping]/[Section] panel.

(*1): The check mark on the left indicates that the corresponding element or group is set to shown.
(*2): You can view the loading status of the point cloud files in [Property] panel.

InfiPoints has the capability to unload point cloud data to increase the loading/drawing speed of point cloud data. You can load unloaded point cloud data by either of the following.

  • Select [Pre-process] tab > [Point Cloud with Scan Index] > [Load] from the ribbon menu.
  • Select point cloud group(s) or point cloud file(s) in [Tree (Overview)] panel, and select [Load Point Cloud with Scan Index] from the context menu.

The point cloud data is displayed only during the view operation.

Depending on the video card, the point cloud may not be displayed with the "Reduce flicker during point cloud display" option enabled. In such a case, check off this option.

  • [Application Menu] > [Option] > [System Settings] > [Miscellaneous] > "Reduce flicker during point cloud display"

The modeling elements (planes, and piping/structure/duct elements) are not shown in "3D View" window.

It may be because the modeling elements (planes, and piping/structure/duct elements) are set to hidden.

Confirm the following.

  • The modeling element display is enabled with [Home] tab > [Show/Hide Plane]/[Show/Hide Pipe]/[Show/Hide Structure]/[Show/Hide Duct].
  • The desired modeling groups are checked in [Tree (Overview)] panel.(*1)

Following is the display name of the modeling groups.

  • Extracted Planes: Planes
  • Extracted Piping System: Piping elements
  • Structure: Structure elements
  • Duct System: Duct elements

(*1): The check mark on the left indicates that the corresponding element or group is set to shown.

The point cloud drawing performance is poor.

It helps increase the point cloud drawing speed to optimize the point cloud data for visualization with [Pre-process] tab > [Optimize for Visualization] > [Create], and hide all other point cloud data to show the result point cloud data only. Please ensure to run [Pre-process] tab > [Optimize for Visualization] > [Create] with "Merge into a single point cloud file" option enabled.

The following may also help increase the point cloud drawing speed.

  • Prioritize the drawing speed during the view operation
    • Select [Application Menu] > [Option] > [Display Settings] > [Tessellation Tol] > [Drawing method during the view operation] > "Prioritize speed" option
  • Draw point cloud using the shader-rendering information
    • Enable [Application Menu]  > [Option] > [Display Settings] > [Tessellation Tol]  > "Draw using point cloud shader-rendering when satisfying requirements" option

The display of modeling elements (pipe/structure/duct) and CAD models is distorted.

The display of modeling elements (pipe/structure/duct) and CAD models may be distorted when applying the public coordinates, etc., and they are located distant from the origin.

As a workaround, move the origin with [Pre-process] tab > [Define the origin] to near to those elements. In the future releases, we are thinking to enhance InfiPoints to avoid the distortion even on the projects with huge coordinates.

Cannot zoom in/out during the view operation.

It may be because it is set to move forward/backward along the world coordinate Z axis from [Home] tab > [Pan / Zoom Direction] > [Along World Coordinates].

  • [Along View Direction]: Select this to pan around, and zoom in/out along the view direction without fixing the height (Z value).
  • [Along World Coordinates]: Select this to pan around, and zoom in/out along the world coordinates fixing the height (Z value) during the view operation using a mouse.

The imported drawing (DWG/DXF) is not displayed correctly.

It may be because the imported drawing was saved in the paper space. The drawings saved in the paper space may not be displayed correctly.

Save the drawing in the model space, and import to InfiPoints to see if that works.

Is it possible not to show the drawings (DWG/DXF) at the front?

Yes, disable [Application Menu] > [Option] > [Display Settings] > [Drawing] > "Bring drawing to front" option.

An error "Exception error in drawing" appears.

Try the following.

  • Upgrade InfiPoints.
  • Update the video card driver.
  • When using the video card developed by NVIDIA, right-click an empty space on the display, and select [NVIDIA Control Panel] > [Help] > [System Information] to view the version information.
  • Restart the computer.
