System Requirements

Is it possible to use InfiPoints outside the company's network?

You can use InfiPoints outside the company's network by checking out the license temporarily to the computer to run InfiPoints. Please refer to the video on Commuter Licensing for the instructions.

Is it possible to use InfiPoints on multiple computers?

The number of installations is unlimited, but the maximum number of simultaneous uses of InfiPoints is the number of purchased license seats.

I'd like to share the InfiPoints projects with non-InfiPoints users.

Create an InfiPoints viewer file from [Output Creation] tab > [Viewer File] > [Viewer File] from the ribbon menu. It is a self-contained viewer file which allows to view InfiPoints projects at the receivers' end without the license and the installation of InfiPoints. Please refer to "InfiPoints Operation Manual Vol.2 Point Cloud Utilization (Simulation & Data Utilization)" available from [Help] tab > [Learn with Tutorial] > [Vol.2.Simulation/Data Utilization] from the ribbon menu for the details.

Does InfiPoints support the view operation with the 3D mouse and/or the keyboard?

Yes, InfiPoints supports the view operation with both the 3D mouse and the keyboard.

Regarding the view operation with 3D mouse, at Elysium, we have tested the view operation with SpaceMouse Compact developed by 3Dconnexion.

Regarding the view operation with the keyboard, please refer to the following page in the InfiPoints Help.

  • [Function Overview] > [User Interface] > [3D View Window]

Does InfiPoints support the operation with the touch panel display?

No, at Elysium, we have not tested the operation with the touch panel display, and that is out of the scope of the technical support.

Is it possible to use InfiPoints via Remote Desktop?

Yes, it is possible to use InfiPoints via Remote Desktop, but that may affect the performance and/or the functionalities. Generally speaking, the ability of the video card may not be fully utilized via Remote Desktop. Therefore, due to the decrease in drawing performance, the point cloud drawing will be affected, and some processes may not be completed correctly.

What are the key features of the computer to use InfiPoints?

To increase the processing speed in point cloud pre-processing (noise reduction, etc.)

Increase the CPU and memory

The point cloud pre-processing including the point cloud import, noise reduction, etc., supports parallel processing using the number of specified threads. Therefore, increasing the CPU and the memory helps shorten the processing time.

  • Maximum number of threads to use
Please ensure to set a value that satisfies both of the following.
    • The usable memory of the computer is capable of accommodating 8 GB times the number of threads to use.
    • The specified value is equal to, or less than the number of physical cores of the computer.

Use the SSD

Using SSDs instead of HDDs also helps shorten the processing time. Because InfiPoints requires a large free space especially when handling huge point cloud data, it is recommended to use a large-capacity SSD.

To increase the drawing performance of point cloud data

Use the InfiPoints features

With your current computer, try the following to see if that helps increase the drawing performance.

  • Optimize the point cloud data for visualization
It helps increase the point cloud drawing speed to optimize the point cloud data for visualization (reduce the data size by sampling, and merge into a single point cloud file) with [Pre-process] tab > [Optimize for Visualization] > [Create] from the ribbon menu, and hide the original point cloud data.
  • Draw point cloud using shader-rendering information
It may help increase the point cloud drawing performance to enable [Application Menu] > [Option] > [Display Settings] > [Tessellation Tol] page > "Draw using point cloud shader-rendering when satisfying requirements" option.

Increase the performance of the video card

It helps increase the point cloud drawing speed to increase the performance of the video card (GPU).

Is it possible to open InfiPoints projects saved in other versions?

Yes, you can work on InfiPoints projects saved in other versions of InfiPoints, with no restrictions when saved in a former version.

Regarding the projects saved in a later version, you can open when the build version (*1) is the same except for the third digit.

E.g., a project saved in February 2024 Update (build: 10.0.1)

  • You can open in December 2023 Update (build: 10.0.0)
  • You cannot open in August 2023 Update (build: 9.0.4)

(*1): Select [Help] tab > [Version Information] > [Version Information] from the ribbon menu to view the build version.

In case you cannot open a project saved in a former version, you can still import the point cloud data, reference points, planes, and piping/structure/duct elements with [Import] tab > [Merge Project Files]. (As of February 2024 Update)
